A Christmas Sunday

It's Christmas morning, the tree lights are on, and the Christmas presents are hidden.

The kids know the drill: open up the stockings but don't wake Mom and Dad up too early.

Since Christmas falls on a Sunday this year, the clues also share the symbols of Christmas and their meanings.

For example, the evergreen Christmas tree stays green all year and reminds us of everlasting hope and eternal life.  Because of Jesus Christ we can have eternal life. It also points up to heaven reminding us to look to God in all things.

Evan and Hailey took the lead on solving clues and finding the presents.

Aubrey got excited whenever she saw them rush to another room to get the next present and would run right behind them.

This year we had the back of the house as well as the front for finding presents.

And the outside too.

James eventually joined in the fun.

The clues this year were all riddles.

I think the kids did a great job figuring out the clues and finding all the gifts.

Even the garage was a hiding spot.

The final present was under the Christmas village.

Now for the presents!

Aubrey got a unicorn stuffy.

A money bank for James.

Evan loves Lego Minecraft. It's his favorite Lego theme.

Hailey loves crafting and creating art.

Jeni wasn't sure about these T-shirts for Evan.

But I knew they would be a huge hit.

It's fun watching the kids open their presents and get excited.

Hailey is also our voracious reader.

James is a character.

Even James got an art set.

Once the kids have gone through their presents it's time for the parents to open gifts.

I bought Jeni the matching bowls for our china dishes from our wedding.

What!? The Lego Mandalorian Starfighter I ordered for myself!? How did you ever know?

Just hanging out with her unicorn.

Aubrey got some new wooden animals to play with too.

Can never have enough gardening tools, right?

Doing some Lego building before it's time to go to Church.

But, seriously James, you need to get dressed for Church, buddy.

Aw, what a cute group.

All dressed and ready for Church on this fine Christmas morning.

After Church, we changed out of our Sunday clothes and went to the Ashcraft's for more gift-giving.

Hailey sometimes likes to make faces at people.

A new little baby doll for Aubrey.

And a hiding place inside a large box.

Jeni got some pretty stuff from her family.

More sketchbooks, just what Hailey wants.

Ooh, now we have our own air fryer.

So excited!

It's been a nice Christmas with everyone.

And, of course, the boys got well into their Lego building.
