A Day at Riley's Farm

Off to Riley's Farm today.

We've been here before but have never done the activities at the Colonial Village.

First, a tractor ride-in.

We were greeted by a choir as we came in.

We were getting hungry so we stopped off at the Hawk's Head for some lunch.

Inside we enjoyed our meal with some live music.

Feeling much better with some food in our stomachs.

We even bought an apple pie from the bakery.

The kids each had some tickets to use for the activities.

James went right to candle making.

Hailey and Evan lined up for tomahawk throwing.

Aubrey and James were excited to watch.

 A little coaching.

Hailey stuck 2 tomahawks.

Evan getting some pointers.

His kept bouncing off the logs.

After that, Hailey and Evan wanted to make their own candles.

With repeated dips theirs became pretty fat.

We let the kids decide where to use their tickets.

At the far end was the blacksmith shop.

These 2 guys were fun to listen to about the "recent events" pre-Revolution.

They were making little trinkets you could buy with activity tickets.

Hailey bought a pewter musket ball and the boys bought little pewter rifle models.

Here's James playing with his rifle.
