Happy 2nd Birthday Hailey!
This is a much needed improvement!
Then we hit up the train museum at Griffith Park.
She was thrilled to climb on something new and exciting.
She was interested in running around and not sitting still for pictures.
They have so many old trains there!
More trains to climb on!
A mere $2.50 will buy you a ride on this mini train.
She had to test out several seats before she settled on the perfect one.
Hailey tried to jump out of the moving train several times so she had to be held.
She's such a climber.
She was pretty excited to play with the train set they had out.

After we left the Equestrian Center we went to take Hailey on a pony ride at another spot in Griffith Park, but she was to tired.

Time for Birthday Cake!
Saturday night we got together with both sides of the family for dinner, cake and presents. Steve made a delicious Persian dinner and everyone had a great time.

After the table was deserted, and there was no one to stop her, she climbed up and wanted another taste of frosting.
Hailey was obsessed with the frosting on the fairy cake that Nana made her.
Before the cake had even been on the table 2 minutes Hailey had her little fingers in it.
Poor Hailey had to wait for everyone to eat dinner before she could have any cake.... so hard when you're little.
She blew out her candles before we even sang Happy Birthday.

LEGOs LEGOs and More LEGOs
I also told Steve that now that we are going to have an Evan boy, sometime in the future I would like Hailey and Evan to have a wooden train set to play with. I mentioned that I had heard there is a huge variety of different types and brands and that sometime we should check into it. Steve then told me his mom used to have an electric train that went around their Christmas tree until the boys broke it. And then he got this look in his eye. "What if we had an electric train built out of Legos?" I turned around to tell him something, but he was gone. A couple of minutes later Hailey and Steve came running into the house with a few tool boxes of Legos from the garage. Steve wanted to start building a train.
Sometimes I think of all the children who have absentee fathers who just don't care about them one way or another. I am glad that Steve is super involved. When he plays with Legos so does Hailey. It is something fun they can do together. We consider this a win-win situation in our house and I encourage it.
Steve would eventually like to collect the rest of the Harry Potter Lego sets. We looked up the Motorized Hogwarts Express. I was thinking to myself, "How much could this possibly cost?.... maybe $200?" Well on Amazon you can buy this train and a set of tracks for $749.99. Yikes! Of course Steve began to research how to motorize your own Lego trains for a lot less. The ideal would be for him to find the regular Lego Hogwarts Express on eBay and motorize it himself.

Time for Tea
Hailey has a plastic tea set she got for Christmas that she plays with all the time. My sister Lauren and I used to have matching ceramic tea sets when we were little that we played with. I recently found Lauren's set out in my parents' garage and she was kind enough to let us use it. When Steve or I have time to sit with Hailey at the table and supervise her we pull it out and she just can't get enough of it. So far she has had "water" tea and "pink lemonade" tea.
Life's hard when you can't decide which cup to drink from.
So far she has been eating crackers with her "tea" and it reminds me of prison food. I thought it would be fun if I got her some petit fours. Steve thinks I am crazy. I think he has a lot to learn about little girls.... maybe it's not his fault. I seriously doubt he was invited to many tea parties when he was little. I say it's never too late to learn. Fortunately for Hailey, despite what her father thinks, I am going to order them anyways.
As you can see this is serious business . . . and we upgraded the cracker to a cupcake in the meantime.
